STING – STEM teacher training innovation for gender balance

STING – STEM teacher training innovation for gender balance

Objectives To make educators aware of the subtle influence of gender on classroom atmosphere, activity and learning preferences and equip them with ideas to change their classroom practices. To raise gender awareness in STEM teaching and learning.
Description of material The programme uses a two-step proces. In the first part teachers are involved in activities to become aware of gender bias. These activities are designed to stimulate teachers to challenge their gender bias and to integrate gender into classroom practice. In the second part of the programme teachers learn how they could change their classroom practice. Activities provide suggestions as to how teachers can adapt and change their practice by taking gender into account in STEM education. The activities are flexible and trainers can tailor them to meet the individual needs of classroom teachers. The training programme contains the Toolkit, Worksheets, Powerpoint presentations, Videos. All the materials were produced during the project STING funded by EU Erasmus Programme in 2014-2017.
